Welcome, November!
“Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love.” –Hamilton Wright Mabie
.
I don't know about you, but my inbox is FULL of all things Christmas this morning! We haven't had the chance to take down the orange pumpkins everywhere, but the spirit of the Christmas Season is already making its way into our minds and our homes! And though we love Thanksgiving around here and celebrate all the Pilgrim's hard work and persistence, I can't say I'm not excited to welcome Christmas, too! As a small business, we're not blind to the season creeping in as early as September, so you can thank us for spamming your inbox with the Holiday spirit starting this month, too.
As an {unofficial} welcome to the Holiday Season, we tried out a new gelato flavor in the creamery this week and can't wait to share it with you! The cookie of the season, in my opinion, has to be the snickerdoodle. With a soft, buttery crumb and the perfect hint of cinnamon, I think it's a welcome treat for the upcoming Holidays. So we made a batch of scratch-made snickerdoodles and a filled a brown sugar cinnamon gelato base with handfuls of cookie pieces to bring you the first Holiday gelato flavor of 2024: SNICKERDOODLE! And right behind it, I had to add a hint of espresso and create one of my favorite lattes as as a gelato: SNICKERDOODLE LATTE! Both of these cinnamon scented gelato flavors are available starting this weekend at our farm shoppe! I can't wait to hear what you all think of this frozen take on a Holiday cookie.
We're gearing up for a full farm shoppe transformation next week, but don't worry: fresh pressed apple cider is here for the season as well as locally picked apples! We'll be enjoying the fresh apple harvest as long as possible. The Holidays will bring some fun new shoppe additions like Holiday scents and artisan made sweets (caramels! candied pecans!) to small batch soaps and sourdough kits (the perfect gift for a baker in your life). We're so excited to stock an array of Holiday treats and gifts to please anyone on your list. The Holiday Farm Shoppe opens officially November 9: stay tuned!

This week's links + finds:
- The question I ask this day every single year: "Is it okay to take my kids' Halloween Candy?" And if now, what do I do with it?!
- The Snickerdoodle Latte I've been making for months that sparked this week's Snickerdoodle and Snickerdoodle latte gelato!
- Each year, we gift our kids a new Holiday book to start the season (and build a collection they'll hopefully hand down to their own kids someday). I'm so excited to gift this book this year!
- With turkey season upon us, I'm taking advantage of the great prices and quality turkey I've found to a make a simple turkey dinner to start November!
- I keep playing these wise words from Steve Jobs over and over in my head because Jesse first told me the same wisdom, which he learned from his Grandfather (who is still handing out wisdom to this day)! How lucky are we to have such wise people in our lives? But the truth is in the simplicity: you have to act, you can't be afraid to ask. Grandpa Hetrick still says "Go ahead and ask. The worst they can say is 'no'". So simple, yet profound. That's how our Microdairy started: we weren't afraid to ask and to hear no.
Welcome, November and so much joy + delight this month!
We hope to see you this weekend at our farm shoppe: open every Saturday 10am until 2pm!
xx,
Lisa
