The Dog, Err Calf Days of Summer.

“Dog Days are approaching; you must, therefore, make both hay and haste while the Sun shines, for when old Sirius takes command of the weather, he is such an unsteady, crazy dog, there is no dependence upon him.”
The Old Farmer’s Almanac, 1817

I think we've officially reached "The Dog Days of Summer", but at our farm it's the cow days! The heat of the summer did give a little break this week which we've all enjoyed. We spent time at our county fair and long, slow evenings in the shade of porch enjoying the slight break in heat. I'm entering week 27 of pregnancy and though I promised I'll never complain about the heat of summer, I'm definitely more aware of it this time around. Here's to the long, slow, hot days of July- but thank God for icy cold waters!
.
I spent some time in inventory of our gelato freezer this week, and we've got quite the selection available right now:
  • Lemon Blueberry
  • Fresh Strawberry
  • Caramel Chocolate Waffle Cone
  • S'mores
  • Chocolate
  • Sea Salt Caramel
  • White Mint Chip
  • Creme anglaise (our classic vanilla bean)
  • Strawberry Rhubarb

I still think the toasty marshmallow of the s'mores is my favorite, but we're all enjoying the fresh fruit gelatos this time of year, too! We can't wait to hear which is your favorite gelato.

.

We'll be here at the farm shoppe Saturday 10am until 2pm with a fresh supply of so much gelato, creamline milk and yogurt! Can't wait to see you then.

Some links + finds from the week:

  • We grabbed these chore charts at the beginning of summer and I'm happy to report a much better chore compliance from the Vivian kids! Great quality and easy to use: we mounted these on our refrigerator and love them.
  • A quick, delicious meal that's so healthy and inexpensive is my jam. And this egg roll in a bowl is on repeat at our house! Also: you heard it here first: beef is restocking NEXT WEEK 7/27/24 at the farm!
  • In time for the Dog Days of Summer: why we should do less.
  • It's the perfect time of year to enjoy one of PA's best state parks: here are our favorites at Cook Forest.
  • I loved this video so much.
  • ps: I heard there's a yard sale at 2159 Cemetery Rd in Brockway Saturday 7/20/24!

Have the best weekend, we're so glad you're here.

xx,

Lisa
