Summer's Last Gelato Flavor is Here!
.
.
We're ending summer with a sweet BANG over here, finishing our summer fun gelato flavors with one of the best we could think of: PARENT TRAP!
.
I'm sure you've either seen the movie or heard of the flavor combination: peanut butter and Oreo! In the movie, the girls are not yet aware of their twin hood and share the common love of Oreos with peanut butter as a treat. Well, my kids love that movie and we've all enjoyed an Oreo dipped in creamy peanut butter, so we decided to bring this delicious combination to life, in gelato form! Our classic salty peanut butter gelato base is finished with a generous serving of crushed Oreo cookies to make a salty sweet, creamy and crunchy gelato that I know you'll love. It's my nephew's favorite flavor and one we've tried to get to all summer, so we're ending the summer gelato series with Parent Trap. I can't wait for you guys to try it!

School started for our small PA town this week, and I'm so glad to report we've all had the best week. I have been extra emotional with the start of both a 7th grader (entering the high school in our small town) a 3rd grader and a kindergartener, all while entering the last months of pregnancy. Phew. But I'm happy to report we're all still smiling this Friday morning! Especially as we geared up in our Rover Football attire for the first home football game of the season tonight. I'll never stop appreciating the small town life! I hope you all are off to a great start of school, too.

And we're excited to bring local, fresh peaches to the farm shoppe this weekend! I've been baking them with cinnamon and a bit of maple syrup to top yogurt for breakfast and we're all loving it! Not to mention the half-bushel my kids have eaten in the past week. Peach season is a good one! We hope you can grab a few at our farm shoppe this Saturday (and every Saturday) 10am until 2pm.
Links + finds from the week:
- As our almost-teen starts high school, I'm glad to be reminded (err humbled) by this list of independent teen skills. I know kids thrive on independence, but sometimes I need the reminder to step back and let them do things on their own, even big things!
- This is the basic morning peach crisp we've been putting over yogurt, but we add lots of cinnamon! I love using almond flour for a lower carb/higher protein start to the day.
- In pregnancy, I've tended to fail my 1-hr glucose more than I've passed it, which got me digging into the research on insulin resistance and diabetes (specifically type II and gestational diabetes). Though I've "passed" the 3-hr test each time, I'm seriously intrigued by this research from Glucose Goddess on the importance of blood glucose control: as much for non-diabetics as diabetics! Glucose spikes, even with a good insulin response, are harmful for all of us. Since I began following her principles, I've noticed a huge difference in my overall energy through the day (the simplest things, like greens before a meal diminishing the glucose spike of the meal). Her research is worth the read, whether you're a diabetic or not!
- A really beautiful pillow cover (resembling some pricey ones I've seen for fall recently) at an amazing price!
- An ongoing debate in my house, back to life with the start of school: I say "cray-on" and Jesse swears it's actually "cray-en"). How do you pronounce crayon?
Happy Friday! We can't wait to welcome you to the farm shoppe this Saturday and every Saturday 10am until 2pm!
Have the best day,
Lisa
In Philly, we say Cray-yon.
