Happy Friday

"What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness".

We've been sitting in some cold wintry temperatures so far this month and it's turning out to be a picture-book January. We've already made a snowman, went sled-riding, called for an owl, and shoveled endless paths and snow piles. Not to mention all the hot chocolate and warm cookies with which we've rewarded ourselves. All in all, it's been a good January so far. Even though my 12 weeks of maternity leave is up and I've worked my first hospital shifts since having baby Emily, we're all doing just fine this winter.

Speaking of winter, I know we missed so many of you last weekend because SO MUCH SNOW! I'm not sure how many inches we got in total, but it was nearly half-a-foot of the white stuff wreaking havoc all around: we watched stopped traffic just by our farm from a 15 car pileup in the midst of the storm and had a slippery drive into town to deliver milk. But we still had quite a few brave travelers who made the trip for their milk and gelato--we're always so grateful for you guys! If you couldn't make it (we completely get it), we saved you some Butter Pecan and Sea Salt Caramel gelato pints for this weekend! And we're so excited to add a brand new flavor with an excited vote: BLACK CHERRY! And because we had a toss-up from the cherry voters about whether or not it should contain chocolate, we made both. First up: a classic black cherry gelato. We pureed real cherries and then added more halved cherries at the end for a pink, tart-and-sweet gelato that's better than I imagined! And for the chocolate version, we used a white vanilla base, and added halved cherries and a generous amount of dark chocolate chunks for a pleasantly fruity-and-chocolately pint I seriously LOVE. I'm excited for you guys to try these new cherry flavors and give me your vote: chocolate or no-chocolate?!

Jesse and I have been dreaming about 2025 at the creamery, and we've set our minds on a couple of really big things. It's a little too early to tell, but I have such a good feeling about at least one of our dreams and I think you'll all love it as much as I imagine. It's worth the wait, for sure. I shared my favorite questions to ask each year and a lot of you commented that you'll be trying them, too. I'm so glad, because without real reflection and dreaming, I think time just seems to fly by. I loved stopping to really sink into what 2024 brought us.
