Happy Friday!

We picked our first apples from our pasture apple tree this week--a sure sign of the season to come. Each season, I create a "bucket list" of simple, local joys for my family. Even though most of the list are mindless (ie, picking apples off our tree, carving pumpkins, watch a high school football game under Friday Night Lights, make homemade applesauce, bake a pie, go on a hayride, listen to the Elk bugle, go to a Fall Fest, watch geese fly over in a "V"), my kids are always excited to read through the new list as the weather changes and a new season approaches. I'd encourage you to make such a list, too, even if the kids are grown and not around to help check things off! There is so much joy in anticipation, and looking for the little moments really dose boost our spirits and bring us a sense of fulfillment.

And back to apples, we have so much to say! Not only are we partnering with Keller's Greenhouse again this year to bring you so much locally picked produce (this week: Gingergold apples, pears and PEACHES: and I promise to be better stocked on peaches this week after two weekends of sell-outs). Also, we've taken these delicious apples and created one of my new favorite gelato flavors. Using real apples, fall spices and a touch of cream cheese, we've created an Apple Cheesecake gelato that is seriously one of my favorite fall flavors to date! This gelato finishes with a gingersnap swirl and is the epitome of sweet apples and gingery fall spices. I can't get enough. We're fully stocked with both Apple Cheesecake and Spiced Pumpkin this weekend at our farm shoppe, Saturday 10am until 2pm!

It's officially fall in the farm shoppe and we can't wait for you to join us for all the sights, smells and tastes of fall this Saturday and every Saturday.

This week's links + finds:
  • In line with our fall bucket list, we're so excited to spend some time up close and personal with the Elk this year. We've booked a stay at In The Sticks Cabins in Benezette to avoid the traffic and rush and settle in to really experience the elk rut. They still have openings if it's on your bucket list, too!
  • Franklin's annual Apple Fest is October 4-6 this year: mark your calendars! If you've never ventured to this quaint town, it's worth the trip!
  • I couldn't resist some cute outdoor decorations for Halloween this year.
  • I'm clearly lightyears behind, but I just discovered almond flour and I can't get over it's nutty, delicious flavor and texture: perfectly suited to pair with melted butter on top of any baked fruit. I loved this healthier take on an apple crisp recipe (though I didn't have tapioca flour and it turned out great).
  • You know how much I love a fall foliage map! This interactive PA map shows the best times for peak foliage.

Happy weekend, friends. We hope to see you at the farm shoppe Saturdays 10am until 2pm!

xx,

Lisa
