Farewell, September!

.

"By all these lovely tokens, September days are here. With summer's best of weather and autumn's best of cheer."

— Helen Hunt Jackson

September has come and nearly gone, it feels like it rushed on by, leaving us little time to stop and check the foliage! The good news for us in Pennsylvania: this year's foliage is delayed and just beginning to show. According to this report, we're still weeks away from peak foliage, so we can all rest knowing the end of September still brings us lots of Autumn to be enjoyed.

.

And speaking of Autumn, we're moving through our seasonal gelato flavors this week with the arrival of one I've been working on for months: BUTTER PECAN. For some reason, I couldn't accept the simplicity of toasting pecans in brown butter and brown sugar, but that's where the magic lies. I should've known! Of course the best food is real, simple ingredients, and this gelato is no exception. We started with our classic creme anglaise base (a perfect vanilla) and finished it with a healthy serving of buttered pecans for a delectable buttery, nutty gelato. And it's available at our farm shoppe this Saturday 10am until 2pm.

.

One more important update: more fresh apples are here! From honey crisp to snapdragon, Autumn crisp, Cortland and even Early Gold, we have a great variety of local apples for any use. And of course our pumpkin milk, yogurt and gelato stock has been refreshed for the weekend. We hope to see you at the farm shoppe this Saturday (and every Saturday) 10am until 2pm!
