We Had a Film Slate!

 

First things first: that thing I’m holding in the photo above is called a slate! Who knew?!

Let’s make a long story short: we made a short film! Silgan Closures is the company we use for sourcing our caps, and last year we won a competition, winning “Free Caps for a Year”. The company did a deep dive into our business after the competition and found interest in our story. They contacted us a few months ago to see if we’d be interested in inviting a film crew to our home to film the farm, our lives and interview our family. We said sure, and here we are! It was such an experience. This film crew was legit, complete with fancy equipment, audio and even a slate! We learned the ropes of “action” and why the slate is used in filmmaking. The kids got to debut, too, and were as silly as you can imagine. All things said, I can’t wait to see what magic they make from this footage. The crew is so talented and said our video is set to debut this fall. I’ll keep you posted 

That being said: phew. It’s been a whirlwind and exhausting couple of days. Our kids, friends and family have been so much help and support and we seriously couldn’t have done this without them. My dad delivered milk, my sister watched my kids, friends volunteered to be a part of the film and we are so, so grateful for all the help. It really does take a village.

And now, we’re spending the day recovering just in time for our favorite holiday: Brockway’s Old Fashioned Fourth of July! Parades, fireworks, friends: we’re so excited for our favorite weekend and celebration!

  • I’m working on make my favorite summer dessert into a gelato flavor, and I think it might top the charts as the best one yet! In the meantime, I’ll be making the simple, delicious dessert for the fourth!
  • We just got a fresh beef restock! Our available steaks are ribeye, NY strip (boneless) and filet (boneless) as well as lots of fresh ground beef, short ribs and all beef hot-dogs. It’s a grill-lovers dream! Stop and grab your favorites at our farm shoppe!
  • We’ve been working so hard at keeping up with gelato flavors at our shoppe! Currently, in our cooler: cookies and cream, fresh strawberry, strawberry-rhubarb crisp, s’mores, sea salt caramel, creme anglaise (the perfect vanilla), a few lemon cheesecake (and some GF lemon cheesecake, too)!
