The Small Producer
Before we started our creamery, we researched small farms, microdairies and creameries. Though we found many scattered throughout the US, we related so much to the European dairy market. Many towns in France still have dairy farms dedicated to a single dairy product— imagine stopping at one farm for milk, another for cheese, and a third for sheep or goat milk dairy products!
We’re watching intently as Ballerina Farm tours some of France’s creameries this week and it’s brought back so much meaning for our little farm!
The idea is to know the food you’re eating and the farmers making it. Much as you can trust a friend or family with your children, food should hold value and meaning!
Jesse and I were brought back to our very beginning plans here, and I’m so inspired again to be the creamery your family can know and trust. You can know our cows are healthy and well cared-for. You know our products are free of any additives, dyes or artificial flavors. You know each time we release a product it’s been with love and care from real people, living right here in your community.
I’ll never stop sourcing real food right from the source, and I hope you don’t either! Maybe soon, we’ll help grow a local cheese maker, butter producer, genuine sourdough baker— not for a shot a cheap food, no, but for a chance to enrich our our diet while bringing us back to our food and it’s makers.
