Happy Friday, June 14.

.
We had a minute to look ahead to next week's weather and phew: we're preparing for a heat wave in PA! Temperatures will reach NINETY here, which is very unusual but a welcome start to summer, I suppose. We're thankful for a barn full of airflow, ample water supply and a freezer filled with gelato!
.
I've been trying to come up with the most summer themed gelato flavors this past month, and I think we found a winner this week: caramel chocolate waffle cone! This flavor starts with our classic vanilla gelato base and is filled with chocolate chunks, sea salt caramel swirls and pieces of chocolate-covered waffle cone for a pint of my favorite waffle cone summer treat! It's adult and kid approved and available in our farm shoppe this Saturday 10am until 2pm!
.
We also made a small batch (with more to come next week) of mint chocolate chip, just in time for the heat wave! It's a take on our sold-out winter peppermint stick, but this time we've added chocolate chips instead of candy canes for a cool, yet sweet refreshing treat!
.
This week, I asked for some of your summer gelato wishes, and so far I've heard peach, butter pecan, tiramisu, chocolate raspberry, key lime, cinnamon bun and more strawberry! I'd love to hear from you, too! Feel free to reply to us (in the email) with your gelato flavor requests! Sometimes decision fatigue gets the best of me and I'd love to get some of your ideas!
.
This week's links + finds:
  • I'm following up on the fly control question I've posed many times over the years. I realize some summers just bring a worse fly population, but last year was exceptionally bad and we vowed to do something about it around here! I found these fly traps through an ad and they are, hands-down, the best option we've ever used. Our fly population is SO MUCH BETTER because of these!
  • Locals, the Sykesville Ag and Youth Fair starts Sunday! We love this fair for many reasons, but its the first local fair and really gets the summer started.
  • The perfect dessert for summer (and Father's Day)!
  • According to the Farmer's Almanac, this Summer Solstice collides with a full moon creating a Strawberry Moon! This is supposed to be a stunning full moon, and perfect reason to stay out late and celebrate summer! Mark your calendars for the evening of June 21.
  • Another hilarious vintage recipe recreation. These videos get me every time.

Have the best weekend! Hope to see you at our farm shoppe this Saturday (and every Saturday) 10am until 2pm!

xx,

Lisa
