Friday, January 19: Snowed In!
Happy Friday! We're in the thick of winter here in PA, with TWO school closings this week for our kids! I'm honestly still enjoying the white stuff, as we've had no real barn disasters and are still loving the sledding and snowman building. By March, I'm usually over it, but we're loving it for now.
And in celebration of our snowed-in days this week, my girls came up with the cutest gelato idea: HOT COCOA! We've been drinking our share lately, and have all agreed the best part is the mini marshmallows on top. So we used a milk chocolate gelato base, swirled marshmallow fluff throughout and topped our gelato with a sprinkle of mini marshmallows for the perfect frozen hot cocoa. And its gluten free! We can't wait for you to try this one!
We also restocked our classic creme anglaise (vanilla) and cookie butter-- a favorite that we can't seem to keep on stock! I wanted to round out January with some really great winter flavors before we move into February and all things Valentine's: and trust me, we've got some really great ideas coming. Grab our gelato at our farm shoppe every Saturday 10am until 2pm!
And though the gelato boxes for January are sold out, I'm adding two new shipment weeks in February full of Valentine flavors! Stay tuned!
This week's links + finds:
- We're outside people, and Jesse regularly tells us "there isn't bad weather, but there is bad choice of clothing". Our kids can play outside for hours, even in the coldest temperatures, thanks to LL bean one-piece snowsuits. I love these, and they've lasted through several kids with ease.
- I made our cinnamon-spiced beef stew again yesterday and was reminded how amazing it is! We love the tomatoey sauce with a hint of cinnamon and a perfect sweetness from butternut squash.
- Our favorite glass, microwavable popcorn maker: use it over and over without the worry of harmful chemicals!
- Have you seen these videos demonstrating how cold it is in Canada? Crazy! Alberta got record lows this week of -50F!
- "Let your kids take you into their dreams and you will be amazed." I loved this beautiful piece on raising your kids as they are, not forcing your wants on them.
